Mosquitoes .. mosquitoes .. mosquitoes .. the hateful little creatures who love to suck blood and spread all the dengues and malarias in the world.
Creatures so small but could claim more lives than all the traffic accidents in a whole year! But hey, what's with all the bug spray commercials that we see everyday - aren't they also dangerous to our respiratory system, too?
Wait until you read this:
A recent study of people newly diagnosed with Parkinson's disease has found that home pesticide use and exposure to pesticides is associated with an increased risk of developing the disease. The study, published in the Annals of Neurology, has found that people who are exposed to pesticides in their homes were 70% more likely to develop Parkinson’s disease than those who had not been exposed. Exposure to pesticides used in gardens carried a 50% increased risk of the disease according to the study. You can read the full report of this study in the Technical Report, Beyond Pesticides/National Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides, Vol. 15, No. 7, July 2000. Too scary! My family friendly solution to this mosquito problem is to start using a practical but modern mosquito net just like those that are sold at Javan Bed Canopy. They are available in all sorts of colors and sizes and the one I personally use is Natural series (blue), queen-size, available at Rp. 340,000.- (excl. 10% discount).
Pheww, at last, we could finally say 'Farewell to Mosquito Spray ...'. What a relief!
